Diabetes Self-Management Education: Classes
are ongoing 4 week sessions. Each class
is approximately 2 hours long. Morning
classes are on Tuesdays with Class #1 beginning
at 9am and classes 2 through 4 beginning at
9:30am. Evening classes take place on
Wednesdays from 6pm – 8pm. A doctors
prescription is required; pre-registration
through the Saint Barnabas LINK is required:
1-888-724-7123. Classes are covered by
Medicare and most health insurance policies.

of each month from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Each month features
a new topic and speaker. A Registered Nurse and Registered Dietitian-Certified
Diabetes Educator are present to answer questions. Pre-registration

Having a Glucose Screening to determine your blood sugar level is
an important first step in preventive health care
and control.
Kimball Medical Center offers free
glucose screenings on the first Wednesday of
every month, from 9:15 to 10:15
a.m. at the Center for Healthy Living located
at 198 Prospect Street in Lakewood. To register

Arthritis Support Group: All meetings are held on
the fourth (4th) Thursday of each month form 11:00am – 12noon. Each
month features a new topic and speaker. A Registered Nurse present
for additional discussion and to answer questions.

Caregivers Support Group: Free, ongoing weekly support
group sponsored by Kimball Medical Center and Ocean County Office
of Senior Services. Group is facilitated by a Licensed Clinical Social
Worker. Tuesday, afternoon 12:30pm – 2:30pm. Wednesday,
afternoon 11:45am – 1:45pm. If you, or someone you know, is

Yoga: Friday mornings from 9:00am-10:15am Classic
Yoga and then from 10:30am – 11:45am Gentle Yoga. Fee
of $5.00 per class and pre-registration through the Saint Barnabas

Self Defense Exercise: Older adults – second
(2nd) and fourth (4th) Thursday of each month from 12:15pm – 1:15pm. Women
and girls takes place on the first (1st) and third (3rd) Friday of
every month from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Fee is $3.00 per class.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program:
This
is a 6 week program beginning on:

11 and ending on Friday, August 15
Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Defensive Driving Course: This course is taught
by the Ocean County Traffic Engineer, Roden S.
Lightbody. This
is a full day course from 8:30am – 5:00pm. The dates for
the remainder of 2008 are all on Monday. They are: April
7,
June 2, August 4 and October
6. Participants should bring a pen and
driver’s license. Lunch can be purchased at the hospital
cafeteria or you may bring your lunch.
The course will provide for an insurance discount of 5% as required
by State law, for three years. A fee of $8.00 will be charged
to all participants who are not County employees’ payable by
check or money order only to the County of Ocean.
For the motor vehicle two-point reduction, an additional of $10.00
will be required by all participants, payable by money order
only to the New Jersey State Safety

AARP Driving Safety Program: this course is
taught by AARP. There is a $10.00 fee. The
course is taught in ½ day sessions on two (2) consecutive Mondays. Upcoming
dates are: Monday: May 5 and May
12 and Monday: July 7 and July

2008 LOOK GOOD - FEEL BETTER: The Jersey Shore Region
of the American Cancer Society offers a free program
for women who are currently undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation
therapy. This program offers education, make-up, skin care and
wigs. Two (2) sessions are available at the Center for Healthy
Living: Monday, May 17 from 1pm – 3pm and Monday, December
8 from
